Before The Wedding

Assist the groom with wedding planning
Attend any pre-wedding events, except the bridal shower, unless it is a co-ed shower
Get your gift for the groom or coordinate the gift if it will be a joint gift from all of his attendants
Help the groom to make sure he has the necessary paperwork for the wedding to occur.
Help the groom to make sure he has the necessary paperwork (tickets, boarding passes, etc) for the honeymoon.
Help the groom pack for the honeymoon.
Help the groom dress for the ceremony.
Insure that the groom has the money to pay the vendors before he leaves for the ceremony.
Keep the bride's ring safe until the ceremony
Plan the bachelor party, and go by what the groom wishes.
Prepare to hold the bachelor party at a time when it will not interfere with the ceremony (hint - don't hold it the night before).
Remember that the rental or purchase of the attire (generally a tuxedo) is your finacial responsibility.
Remember that any accessories (except boutonniere) are also your financial responsibility.
The night before the ceremony, get a good night's sleep. You should be well rested as it will be a full day.
To confirm the honeymoon/travel arrangements
Transportation to the ceremony should be arranged so that you and the groom arrive at the ceremony at time. Escort the groom, if possible.
Your reception speech should be with you before you leave for the ceremony.

The Ceremony & Reception

Make sure groom arrives on time
Make sure groom looks presentable for his wedding before walking down the aisle
Do your best to ease groom's fears or worries
Escort groom to his position during ceremony
Hold bride's ring until needed
Sign the marriage license as a witness
Pay the officiant (groom has payment)
Arrange for transportation so that couple gets from ceremony to reception
Give first toast at reception
Give a speech for groom and bride (after toast)
Organize groom's attendants for any photos
Pay any wedding vendors that need payment (groom has payment)
Provide decorations for car and help to decorate (ask the couple first!)
Help newlyweds to car (whether going home or to airport)
Ensure that gifts are safely loaded (be sure to find out who will be holding them for the couple)
Help newlyweds load car with luggage (and/or gifts) if necessary

After the Wedding

Return the groom's tuxedo rental, if necessary
Return your tuxedo rental on time.
Make sure the rest of the attendants return their rentals on time
